The Yorkshire Playhouse would like to invite your child to audition for the summer 2024 Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theatre production. This will be the 23nd summer of the Yorkshire Playhouse Children’s Theatre. The Children's Theatre production will be directed by John I. Baker III and assisted by Clare Bierbaum.

Romantic comedy fans will not want to miss this show! Watch a routine visit to their husbands’ graves take an interesting turn for Ida, Lucille, and Doris. When Sam the butcher shows up to visit his late wife’s grave, Ida finds herself falling for him. Lucille and Doris, on the other hand, will do anything to keep this romance from blooming.

Have you always wanted to play the beloved hero? Or, perhaps you’ve always longed to play an over-the-top villain? In this riotous melodrama, you could have the chance to hear the audience cheer for your heroic deeds, or be booed off the stage for your nefarious schemes. This is Rising Stars Production so we’re looking for actors age 12-18 to participate in this production.

Charles Dickens’ timeless Christmas tale has been brought back to life by Patrick Barlow in a thrilling adaptation that only requires five actors! Watch as Ebenezer Scrooge, a stingy old miser, learns to appreciate the spirit of Christmas after he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.

You’re never too old for the stage! The Cemetery Club is the perfect opportunity for seasoned actors to show off their prowess! This hilarious romantic comedy showcases a small, tight-knit cast of characters with incredible chemistry.

This is your chance to make history! The Yorkshire playhouse is holding auditions for Ghosts and Macrame Owls and Matsutake Mushrooms. Cast members get the thrill of being the first actors in the world to create these roles. Don’t miss this opportunity to audition for these original, shorter works. Yet another classic story will take the Playhouse stage! Jane Austen’s famous Pride and Prejudice has been retold by Kate Hamill in a romantic, witty, and spontaneous stageplay. Watch the drama unfold as Lizzy Bennet, the most free-spirited of the Bennet sisters, slowly falls for Mr. Darcy, whom she is determined to detest.

The Classic Christmas comedy/drama returns to the stage once again. Kris Kringle gets caught up in the excitement of New York City Macy’s Day parade when he finds an intoxicated man playing the role of Santa. Kris plays the role of Santa so well he is given the role at Macy’s where his sanity is questioned. Is he the real Santa? Have people forgotten the real meaning of Christmas?
Originally on the stage in 2015, watch Yorkshire Playhouse bring this story back to life.

Based on Bram Stoker’s most well-known character, Dracula is not just a charming count from Transylvania; he is the world’s most famous vampire! Lucy Seward has been overcome by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing suspects that the girl has become the victim of a blood sucking vampire. Will they catch Dracula in time to save Lucy?!
“Dracula” first appeared on the Playhouse stage during our first year (1973). He returned to haunt us once more in 2013. Will this be his final appearance?

Charles M. Schulz beloved ‘Peanuts’ characters come to life in this musical. Vignettes mirror the style of Schulz’s comic strip style moving from scene to scene as beloved characters ponder life’s toughest questions. “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” was first performed on stage with the Yorkshire Playhouse in our inaugural season and represents the first of two plays from the 1973 season!

Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang are coming to the Playhouse stage! The Summer Musical returns to the Playhouse during our 50th Year celebrations.

Steel Magnolias follows a cast of six women set in a beauty parlour in Louisiana. Wit and wisdom, humor and sadness emerges over the course of three years inside Truvy Jones’ successful Salon. Audiences will come to understand how this cast of characters represent something as delicate as magnolias, yet tough as steel as they rise above in good and bad times.

Join the Vanderhoff family in this comedy set in 1930’s New York City. Martin Vanderhoff gave up business 35 years earlier because he “wasn’t having any fun”. Through his example his family, friends and even strangers come to understand personal fulfillment has little to do with wealth and much to do with doing what you love. This show was previously performed by the Yorkshire Playhouse in 1985 and 2015.

There are Christmas plays and then there are Christmas Productions! In true Southern form, when new creative leadership takes over, the Tabernacle of the Lambs’ yearly Christmas Production spins hilariously out of control. Santa, Mary and Joseph, a wiseman, and Elvis all make an appearance in this unforgettable play.

That is until their four year old son is killed in a tragic accident. This drama will take the audience through the pain, heartbreak, and the hope of healing that can come in the aftermath of such a traumatic event.

Should no knight be found with the courage necessary to risk death, then King Stanley the Stern will settle for Morton Montesque and his traveling troupe of actors who intended to re-enact a play in which they slay a dragon and end up facing a real one! Will there be bravery? Yes. Will there be true love? Yes. Is this tale bound to be filled with blunders, comedy, and a suspicious con-artist? Yes, yes, and YES. A Play About A Dragon, appropriate for all ages, will have you rolling in the aisles with laughter and at the edge of your seat with anticipation.

The Second Annual YPPC One-Act Performances will feature two original One-Act plays. This unique experience gives writer’s an opportunity to present their work to an audience for the first time ever. Three men have recently had a room open up in their home and begin searching for a fourth renter. After someone named Will responds to the ad placed, it seems as if Carl, Lloyd, and Parker have their man… except Will is actually a woman. As all of the secrets they’ve been keeping suddenly find their way to the surface, these quirky, sometimes cantankerous, older men must decide whether accepting a female roommate can work in their currently all-male domain. It turns out some secrets are just too hard to keep.

Holmes and Watson are on the case - just not the Holmes and Watson we may be accustomed to. The game is afoot in this mystery as Miss Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Dorothy Watson seeks to unravel the truth behind a series of mysterious deaths and a corrupt police investigator. Set in traditional Victorian era London, this story, written by Christopher M. Walsh, stays true to the world created by Sir Arthur Conon Doyle, but answers the question - What if Holmes and Watson were women rather than men?
