In 2003, The Yorkshire Playhouse Board of Directors organized the first annual YORKIE AWARDS to recognize the individual efforts of volunteer actors, actresses and crew.

The Yorkie nominations are announced to Playhouse Members in August when voting begins. The Yorkie Awards correspond with the announcements of the upcoming season in September. Members are asked to keep track of their favorite performers and productions and submit their vote.
