Located in downtown York, Nebraska, Yorkshire Playhouse is just 10 minutes north of the Interstate 80, US Highway 81 intersection. The Playhouse facility, a former department store, is now ADA accessible and located within walking distance of some of Nebraska’s finest restaurants. There is plenty of free parking and flexible seating for 130 patrons. The Playhouse holds four regular productions each season along with a special Children’s Theater production in the summer. Each production is held for 2 weekends (Thursday-Saturday) with curtain time at 7:30pm (CST). There is also a Sunday matinee with a 2:00pm (CST) curtain. The Playhouse, now in its 36th season, has thrived due to the dedication of hundreds of volunteers from the area and the support of thousands of individual and corporate members and sponsors. Children's Theatre 2009 This imaginative retelling of the Arthurian legend is set in the hill fort of Trumontium in 500 A.D. In the midst of a fierce storm, a mysterious sword-stone appears. Rumors fly that the person who can pull the sword out will be the Pendragon, the next high king of Britain. Warriors come from far and wide to try their hand but to no avail. Young Arthur, mocking a warrior's attempt, surprisingly removes the sword, and thus his problems begin. The Nerd Auditions will be held Monday & Tuesday June 29-30 from 7-8 pm at the Playhouse. Looking for 4 adult men, 2 adult women and 1 young man for the show. The show will be August 6-9 and August 13-16.
