This year's Children's Theater is the fourth show written by veteran director John Baker. The show tells the story of John Dough, the Gingerbread Man, and his adventures when gets a rocket ride to the Island of Phreex. The valiant young Gingerbread Man makes a personal sacrifice to save a girl, and, joined by two companions, he is chased from the Palace of Romance through Pirate Island to the two sided island of Hiland and Loland. Will the three manage to save the day again and live happily ever after?
The Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theater program casts between 30 and 50 children between 3rd grade and 11th grade. The rehearsals start in May and run through June and performances have completely sold out for years. Tickets will be available in June so make plans to come enjoy the always creative, always entertaining performance of the Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theater!!
The aim of the Yorkshire Playhouse Children's Theater is to teach children about theater, performance skills, and to give the children of York County an enjoyable artistic experience.
