The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

“Once upon a time, in a house on Egypt Street, there lived a rabbit made almost entirely of china.”

Based on the book by Kate Dicamillo, “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” by Dwayne Hartford is a funny, heartwarming, and poignant story for all ages. Edward Tulane is a vain and self-centered toy rabbit who, by traveling with all sorts of colorful characters, from a hobo, to a fisherman, to a little boy, learns the true value of love and friendship.

This show utilizes a minimal cast and set, with a cast of 4 seasoned community theater veterans, and a movable set that can be a grand house, a ship, and a garden at different times. The acting in this production is a joy to watch. The actors transition between their numerous characters seamlessly, with different accents and presences for each.

Because of the plethora of characters, the costumes are simple (unless you count Edward's many outfits, including a sailor suit and silk pajamas) with accessories like shawls and hats to differentiate the characters portrayed.

This is the perfect show to watch as a family. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll fall in love with Edward as he travels.

Shows are September 30-October 9. Weeknight shows start at 7:30 p.m. and weekend shows start at 2 p.m. There will also be a virtual performance on October 8. You can book your tickets online at yorkshireplayhouse.com. We hope to see you there!
